Sister Carpentry exists to build skills, confidence and knowledge in building. We believe in a different way of living — one where people feel capable doing things themselves, make sustainable choices, and live more lightly on the land.

Led by Sophie, a qualified carpenter, Sister Carpentry is driven by a mission to get more women into carpentry — equipped with their own tools, skills and confidence to build what they imagine.

Celebrating
women building

Only 3% of carpenters are women.

For generations, many of us haven’t been shown how to use tools, how to fix the things around us, or how to take ownership of building something from the ground up. We’ve been steered away from trades, construction sites, and tool sheds—told those spaces weren’t for us.

But here we celebrate women building, creating, and tinkering. We share skills, stories, and inspiration to put more tools in women’s hands—and more women’s names on the things they’ve built. Because the future should be full of women making their mark, one project at a time.

Diversity builds better.
